ALL STUDENTS AT UCSD

SUBJECT:    Addition of Available Study Spaces for Students

As the Winter Quarter gets underway, we write to provide you with an update about available study space for the coming months. Our discussions with students in December highlighted the value of quiet study areas, and we have redoubled our efforts to identify areas that afford our students the ability to focus on their studies.

Starting 8 a.m. on Monday, January 9, and continuing through the quarter, the area in Galbraith Hall (formerly known as CLICS) will be open as study space for students. We intend to keep this space open until we are ready for its renovation as planned for classroom and refurbished study space for our students.

In the Revelle College neighborhood, nearly 500 study spaces may be found in various lounges in Blake Hall and Fleet residence area. At Geisel Library, space has been reconfigured to provide added quiet study areas. In total, Geisel Library accommodates up to 3,000 seats for study. A total of 275 are new spaces, with 125 workstations that now have electrical outlets for laptop use. Power strips also have been added for computer use.

We understand your dedication to your classes in order to make timely progress in your educational career path, and we share a commitment to your academic success.
