Town Hall Meetings to Discuss Strategic Planning Process

I invite you to attend an upcoming Town Hall meeting to learn more about, and participate in, the strategic planning process being initiated by the campus to establish shared goals to define the future of UC San Diego. It is important that the development of our strategic plan is a bottom-up, inclusive and collaborative process, and that everyone has an opportunity to share ideas and give input.

The first two Town Hall meetings have been scheduled for:

* Thursday, Dec. 6, from 1:30 – 3:00 p.m. in Price Center West
Ballroom A

* Monday, Dec. 10, from 10:00 – 11:30 a.m. in Atkinson Pavilion at
the Faculty Club

Each Town Hall will begin with a presentation about the strategic planning process before a general discussion.

UC San Diego Medical Center employees are welcome to attend the Town Halls on campus. However, Town Hall meetings will be scheduled during the winter quarter at the Medical Center in Hillcrest and at Thornton Hospital.

In addition to Town Hall meetings, we will provide opportunities for input through focus groups, interviews, an online survey and other information gathering sessions to ensure full inclusion of our campus and community members in this process. In order to allow employees the opportunity to attend a Town Hall meeting, 1.5 hours of administrative leave with pay has been approved. Managers and supervisors are asked to allow employees to attend, as long as the absence does not infringe upon the performance of required job duties.
