CONSTRUCTION ALERT – La Jolla Campus Utilities Infrastructure - Medical Center Switch Station Utility Installation Near Preuss School

Project Description/Location

The La Jolla Campus Utilities Infrastructure-Medical Center Switch Station project will continue with construction on a utility trench on the north side of Voigt Drive (adjacent to the Preuss School) starting on December 14, 2012. The utility work will cross the access road that leads to the East Campus Electrical Substation (west of Preuss School) and continue east into the landscape area. One lane will remain open at all times with flagmen directing two-way traffic. Work hours will be from 6:30 am to 3:00 pm with traffic control removed at the end of each day.

Immediate Street Impacts

Voigt Drive should not be impacted by this utility trenching, however those entering Preuss School's parking lot may experience some back up due to the lane width reduction. The Preuss School begins its winter break on December 24, 2012 so traffic congestion should be minimal. A short section of sidewalk near the work area will be closed and signage will be posted with alternate routes.
