SUBJECT:    EARLY CALLING CAMPAIGN TO 2012 ADMITS

Dear Colleagues:

We write to request your assistance with a critical outreach campaign to yield the best and the brightest of UC San Diego's Fall 2012 admits. It is important that we recruit a highly talented and richly diverse student body. To this end, we and Chancellor Fox would greatly appreciate your assistance with an Early Calling Campaign to attract these outstanding admits to UC San Diego - specifically those from historically underrepresented groups who have applied to your department, program, or college.

Admission decisions will be posted online beginning March 17. It is critical that these newly admitted students are contacted by you or an appropriate departmental representative as quickly as possible to break the good news that they have been admitted to UC San Diego, and that an official letter is on its way. This provides a wonderful opportunity to make our prospective Tritons aware of the exciting opportunities here at UC San Diego, and to convey specific details related to your department, program, or college.

For the last four years, this personal contact had a significant impact and proved to be effective in yield efforts for these students. We deeply appreciate your participation in this critical outreach activity.

In order to register your participation, please click on the following link by Wednesday, February 29: http://calling.ucsd.edu/c/early

Sometime soon afterward, you'll receive an electronic notice letting you know that the online tool is now live as well as a set of instructions. This online tool will assist you with placing and tracking calls to the admitted students within your academic area or college. Student names and phone numbers will display on the screen and you will be prompted to record the outcome of the call.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact Timothy Borch (x.20348, tborch@ucsd.edu); Assistant VC Mae Brown's assistant, Catharine Nance (x.43156, cnance@ucsd.edu; or Asst. VC Brown (mbrown@ucsd.edu). Thank you in advance; we are looking forward to another rewarding and productive yield campaign.

Sincerely,

Suresh Subramani
