ALL ACADEMICS, STAFF AND STUDENTS AT UC SAN DIEGO

SUBJECT:    2012 Kyoto Prize Symposium

UC San Diego is pleased to join San Diego State University and the University of San Diego in hosting the 11th annual Kyoto Prize Symposium from March 20 to 22, 2012. As part of the symposium, recipients of the Kyoto Prize, Japan’s highest private award for global achievement, will present lectures which are free and open to the public.

One of the world’s most distinguished astrophysicists and recipient of the Kyoto Prize in “Basic Sciences,” Rashid Sunyaev, will speak at UC San Diego from 3:30 to 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 21, in the Price Center West Ballroom. Sunyaev will talk about his contributions to the understanding of the early universe and the properties of black holes.

I hope you will join us for the lecture, as it will be a remarkable opportunity to hear from one of the world’s most accomplished astrophysicists.
