ALL ACADEMICS, STAFF AND STUDENTS AT UC SAN DIEGO

SUBJECT:    UC San Diego’s 6th Annual “Spring Roles” Celebration

During the month of May, UC San Diego will celebrate Asian-Pacific American Heritage Month with numerous campus events. The “Spring Roles” program includes a variety of lectures, film screenings, discussions and workshops. Events range from a kickoff lunch on May 1 at the International Center, to a presentation on the current research of Professor Albert Lin who is using non-invasive technology in the search for Genghis Khan’s tomb. For the full calendar of events, visit: http://ucsdcrossculturalcenter.tumblr.com/

I am approving two hours of administrative leave with pay so that employees may participate in a UC San Diego Spring Roles activity, and I ask supervisors to allow employees to attend, as long as the absence does not infringe upon the performance of required job duties or patient care.

I thank the members of the planning committee for their work in coordinating these educational and celebratory campus activities. I hope you’ll join me and our campus community in honoring the legacy and contributions of Asian and Pacific-Islander Americans.
