SUBJECT:   Proposed Revisions to PPM 160-3, Using Electronic Communications For Official Communications With Students

The University invites comments on proposed revisions to PPM 160-3 by Friday, June 15, 2012. The proposed revision is available online at:

The changes to PPM 160-3 include:

* Identifies those with campus authority to communicate official correspondence with students.

* Clarifies differences between mandatory (academic, policy compliance and regulatory communications)and optional (events, opportunities, etc.) official messages.

* Identifies student responsibilities for ensuring they receive official communications.

* Clarifies that Official Messages may include new technology and messaging opportunities.

All comments received will be evaluated and as appropriate, incorporated into the policy. Comments should be emailed to William Haid at whaid@ucsd.edu no later than Friday, June 15, 2012.
