CONSTRUCTION ALERT – La Jolla Campus Utilities Infrastructure - Medical Center Switch Station – STARTING August 6, 2012

Project Description/Location:
The La Jolla Campus Utilities Infrastructure - Medical Center Switch Station project will begin construction starting Monday, August 6, 2012. The project site is located East of the La Jolla Campus Parking Structure along Campus Point Drive. This 3,200 square foot facility will provide increased electrical capacity to support the new Jacobs Medical Center Bed Tower, JMC Central Plant and Altman Clinical Transitional Research Institute projects. The structure will be built adjacent to the Parking Structure and connect utilities into the La Jolla Campus Switching Substation located behind the Preuss School. Initial construction efforts will include project fencing, site grading, soil removal and utility work. The new structure is anticipated to be completed Summer 2013.

Immediate Street Impacts:
There will be an increased level of construction traffic entering the La Jolla campus via Genesee and Voigt Drive. Future roadwork and lane closures will be needed to complete construction and will be preceded by additional campus notifications.
