This 345,000 square foot facility will provide new research space including dry and wet laboratories, human subject clinical space, auditorium, café, administrative support spaces and faculty physician offices for the Sulpizio Cardiovascular Center. The project will also utilize the recently installed utility infrastructure around the campus. Initial construction efforts will include building a temporary construction haul road behind the East Campus Parking Structure, project fencing, site grading, soil removal and underground utility work. The new structure is anticipated to be complete in the summer of 2015. Immediate Street Impacts There will be an increased level of construction traffic entering the La Jolla campus via Genesee Avenue and Voigt Drive. Future roadwork and lane closures on Medical Center Drive will be needed to complete construction and will be preceded by additional campus notifications.
