ALL ACADEMICS AND STAFF AT UCSD

SUBJECT:    Compliance Briefing: UC Ethical Values and Conduct

Early 2010 the University of California launched a mandatory, online Compliance Briefing for all UC employees who are not extramurally funded researchers. This biennial training that includes a re-orientation to the UC Statement of Ethical Values and Standards of Ethical Conduct as well as scenarios that reflect potential ethics and compliance issues affecting you as an employee, has been updated and is now available through the HR BISLearning Management Systems (LMS) - UC Learning Center.

If you are required to take this training module, a personalized email with instructions will be sent to you by September 10, 2012 from the UC Learning Center directing you to the new online Compliance Briefing. This training is to be completed no later than December 31, 2012.

The Briefing, which is mandatory, takes about 30-40 minutes to complete. It is designed to reinforce the Statement of Ethical Values and Standards of Ethical Conduct, and to convey University employment obligations with respect to ethical and compliant behavior. The purpose is not to teach University policy or ethics but to familiarize UC employees with important ethics and compliance information, issues and resources. In addition, this briefing will provide information about reporting instances of non-compliance.

The Briefing can be taken on any computer with Internet access and does not need to be completed in one sitting. However, if you do not complete the course in one sitting you can re-access it for later completion via the original instructions. The Briefing will remain available to you for reference throughout the year. Thank you for your cooperation in meeting this requirement.

Additional information regarding the Compliance Briefing can be found on UCOP's website http://www.universityofcalifornia.edu/compaudit/compli_brfng.html. Simply click on any of the hyperlinks in that section for more information.
