An international search for a new Dean of the Jacobs School of Engineering is now commencing, and we are pleased to invite applications and nominations for this position. The Dean is responsible for providing academic, intellectual, and administrative leadership to the Jacob's School of Engineering and promotes excellence in all aspects of the School's research, teaching, and service missions. Successful candidates should have prior experience in academic administration, and a distinguished record of scholarship, teaching, and service appropriate for appointment as a tenured senior professor at UC San Diego. He or she should also have a proven record in fundraising and financial management. The ideal candidate will have strong demonstrated accomplishments in areas contributing to diversity, equity and inclusion, and a desire to play a leadership role in advancing UC San Diego's commitment to achieving excellence and diversity. The membership of the Search Advisory Committee, which will be chaired by Robert Bitmead, Professor of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, is given below. The Isaacson, Miller search firm has been engaged to assist with this important recruitment, and all candidate materials will be sent directly to the firm. The Search Advisory Committee will begin reviewing candidates in March and will continue until the position is filled.
