SUBJECT:    Undergraduate Research Conference Nominations

We are writing to invite your nomination of outstanding students to participate in the Twenty-Sixth Annual UCSD Undergraduate Research Conference to be held on Saturday, April 27, at the UCSD Faculty Club.

At the conference, students will have the opportunity to present their research papers, experiments, or other projects at small informal roundtables, each moderated by a member of the faculty. Last year, more than 140 students participated in the conference and found it to be both a challenging and a rewarding experience.

The conference supports the scholarly and creative aspirations of UC San Diego undergraduates and provides them increased opportunities for intellectual recognition and encouragement at UCSD. It is UC San Diego's only campus-wide recognition of undergraduate research. Only students nominated by a UC San Diego faculty member can participate in this conference. Presenters attending the conference will have the opportunity to interact with faculty and students and enjoy a catered breakfast and buffet lunch. In appreciation, they will also receive a certificate recognizing their respective scholarly achievements.

The deadline to nominate a student is March 26, 2013. To nominate up to three of your top students to participate in the Twenty-Sixth Annual UCSD Undergraduate Research Conference, simply:

(1) Complete the online form at:
       https://cur-server.ucsd.edu/machform/view.php?id=16011

(2) Inform the student of the nomination.

Please consider as well serving as a roundtable moderator at this event (you do not need to have a student in the conference to serve as moderator); you may volunteer to be a moderator by filling out the form here:
https://cur-server.ucsd.edu/machform/view.php?id=17156.

Your attendance at or participation in this event provides vital support to the growing prestige of serious undergraduate research at UC San Diego.

If you have any questions regarding the research conference, please contact Dr. David Artis, Dean of Undergraduate Research Initiatives at x24161 (dartis@ucsd.edu) or Karen Van Ness, the conference coordinator, at x45791 (kvanness@ucsd.edu).
