HUMAN RESOURCES October 22, 2013
ALL ACADEMICS AND STAFF AT UC SAN DIEGO
The annual Benefits Open Enrollment begins at 8:00 a.m. on Monday, October 28, 2013 and ends at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 26, 2013. UC is making significant changes to the 2014 medical plans in an effort to continue providing high quality medical insurance while limiting cost increases to the individual. Two new health insurance plans, UC Care and Blue Shield Health Savings Plan, are being offered, and four plans are being discontinued. Health Net Blue and Gold, Kaiser Permanente, and Core (administered by Blue Shield) will still be available. Employees are encouraged to carefully review the information that they receive at their home address. Full details on health insurance choices for 2014 including information on the new medical plans, summaries of plans, premium costs, tools to help employees choose the right medical plan, and much more, are available at the Open Enrollment website at: http://atyourservice.ucop.edu/oe/medical/index.html Additionally, information about the 2014 health insurance plans can be obtained by: * Attending the Benefits Open Enrollment Fair on Wednesday, October 30, 2013, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. in the Price Center West Ballroom. Representatives from the various health insurance plans and medical providers will be available to meet with faculty, staff and retirees to answer questions, provide additional information, and discuss plan details. * Viewing the UC Benefits Town Hall presentation at: http://blink.ucsd.edu/go/benefitstownhall. Find out why changes are being made and learn about the new medical plans. Open Enrollment is also the time to enroll or re-enroll in Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs) which allow employees to set aside funds to pay for health and/or dependent care while providing tax savings. Employees must enroll in FSAs during Open Enrollment to participate in 2014, even if they are currently enrolled. For questions or assistance with Open Enrollment, please contact the Human Resources Department Benefits Office at (858) 534-2816 or the person in your department who handles benefits information. Health Sciences faculty and staff should call (619) 543-3200.
