SUBJECT:    Formal Review - Accommodations for Nursing Mothers

The University is proposing to establish Personnel Policies for Staff Members (PPSM) 84 - Accommodations for Nursing Mothers.

The University recognizes the importance and benefits of breastfeeding for both mothers and their infants. Under the provisions of the proposed policy and in accordance with mandated state and federal laws, the University will provide appropriate sanitary and private space for lactation purposes and will provide lactation break time.

The proposed policy can be viewed on the At Your Service website by selecting "Proposed Policies and Programs" at:
http://atyourservice.ucop.edu/employees/policies_employee_labor_relations and then selecting "Proposed New/Revisions to Staff Policies."

Professional and support staff, managers and senior professionals and Senior Management Group members who would like to comment on the proposed policy should email their comments by February 20, 2013 to employeerelations@ucsd.edu.
