In mid-January of this year, UC San Diego along with several UC
locations transitioned their nonexempt employees to a biweekly pay
cycle, as part of a systemwide initiative to standardize the
University's practice of paying its nonexempt employees. UC has
recently discovered that with the mid-month transition some employees'
take home pay ended up being slightly lower than what it would have been
had the transition occurred at the beginning of the month.
On March 27, 2013, one-time supplemental payments of wages for the
period between January 1, 2013 and January 19, 2013 (the period just
prior to the transition to a bi-weekly pay cycle) will be issued to
affected employees. The one-time payment will be issued with employees'
regular earnings, but identified separately on earnings' statements. The
individuals designated as human resources and/or payroll contacts in
your department have already received information regarding this
upcoming additional payment. We wanted to advise you also, in case you
have questions, or in case you get questions from your fellow staff
members.
