CAMPUS NOTICE

OFFICE OF ASSISTANT VICE CHANCELLOR -
ADMINISTRATIVE COMPUTING AND TELECOMMUNICATIONS

September 13, 2013

ALL ACADEMICS AND STAFF AT UC SAN DIEGO

SUBJECT:    Reminder - Active Directory (AD) Password Reset

As a follow-up to our campus-wide notice posted on August 14, we would like to remind you of the requirement to change your Active Directory (AD) password before September 17, 2013.

In response to the increasing cyber security threats, UC San Diego has mandated an annual AD password change. Your AD password allows access to campus services including email, wireless network, virtual private networking (VPN) and other related systems. Changing your password will help to minimize the IT security incidents that occur throughout the year.

In order to avoid disconnection of access to campus resources, your AD password must be changed before September 17, 2013. AD accounts that have not been changed between March 17, 2013 and September 16, 2013 will be expired and deactivated.

Unless your department systems administrator has given you specific instructions for changing your password, please follow the instructions on the campus Blink portal. There is a link on the main page or you can search the site using the phrase "password reset". Please note that we are deliberately not providing a link to that page so that this message is not mistaken as a phishing scam email.

If you have any questions regarding this request, or need assistance, please contact your department systems administrator or the ACT Helpdesk (acthelp@ucsd.edu or 858-534-1853).
