SUBJECT:    New Cash Deposit System (CDS) Web Application

We are excited to announce the launch of a new web application to streamline the miscellaneous cash deposit process for the entire campus. The new Cash Deposit System (CDS) application was designed to save the user time, provide better internal controls, and to streamline ledger reconciliation.

Some specific benefits of CDS include:

Reduction of deposit processing time and improves
availability of funds

Generic "misccash" description currently found on the General

Ledger is replaced with a description chosen by the depositor

Users will receive electronic receipts for their deposits

Ability to create templates for repetitive deposits saves
users time and improves deposit accuracy

User can hyperlink to the deposit advice from FinancialLink

All changes made to a deposit are tracked from start to finish
creating an electronic audit trail

Built in business rule edits to help eliminate incorrect
and/or improper accounting information

CDS can be accessed through the FinancialLink portal in the Transaction
Toolbox or by directly visiting the link:

https://act.ucsd.edu/cashDepositSystem/deposit-manage.htm

Please ask your DSA for the following CDS access: "FINANCIAL: Cash Deposit System Preparer." In addition, prior to accessing CDS, users are encouraged to take the online CDS tutorial offered through Staff Education UC Learning Center.

If you have any questions or comments regarding CDS, please contact Marisela Garcia-Centeno, Manager of Cashiers Office at mgarciacenteno@ucsd.edu, or Bill Sweetman, Manager of Financial Web Applications at wsweetman@ucsd.edu.
