OFFICE OF THE CHANCELLOR

ALL ACADEMICS, STAFF AND STUDENTS AT UC SAN DIEGO

SUBJECT:    California Native American Day Celebration at UC San Diego

We invite the entire campus community to take part in UC San Diego's expanded celebration of California Native American Day. Throughout the academic year, UC San Diego will host celebrations to honor the heritage, culture and traditions of Native Americans. The first event will be the annual kick-off celebration at the International Center on Friday, Sept. 27. This year's theme is "Honoring Tradition Through Culture and Education." For a full calendar of events, visit: http://blink.ucsd.edu/go/nativeamerican.

In order to attend a California Native American Day celebration activity, two hours of administrative leave with pay have been approved. We ask that supervisors allow employees to attend, as long as the absence does not infringe upon the performance of required job duties or patient care.

We would like to thank the members of the California Native American Day Celebration Planning Committee for their time and effort to coordinate these educational and celebratory campus events and activities.
