ALL ACADEMICS, STAFF AND STUDENTS AT UC SAN DIEGO

SUBJECT:    Save the Dates – Triton Day and Transfer Admit Day 2014

Triton Day will be held on Saturday, April 5, and Transfer Admit Day will be Saturday, May 10, 2014. Triton Day brings together the campus community to showcase UC San Diego to newly admitted freshmen students and their families as a student-centered, research-focused, service-oriented public university. The day-long event allows admitted students to explore the full range of opportunities available at UC San Diego. Representatives from the undergraduate colleges, academic departments and programs, student services, student organizations and extracurricular/enrichment programs will offer prospective students a glimpse into their future as members of the Triton family. An estimated 20,000 people will visit the campus for a day of education and fun.

The goal of this important endeavor is to come together as Tritons United, and to support our admission's efforts by encouraging our newly admitted students – some of the best and brightest students in the world – to choose UC San Diego. The experience we create for them on Triton Day will greatly impact that choice. Broad campus participation from all academic areas, student support services, student organizations, and administrative support units will be essential to achieving our goal and providing our guests with a true Triton experience.

To demonstrate UC San Diego as a living laboratory for learning, research and development and give prospective students a flavor of what life is like at UC San Diego, we would again this year like to highlight more research and educational opportunities, organizations and clubs and offer additional tours of labs and research facilities. By February, we will send another notice with a link to an online registration site, where academic departments, student services and student organizations may register to have a table on Triton Day.

If you’d like to open up your lab, studio, gallery, or any other space on Triton Day to admitted students and families, please feel free to contact Amanda Kalal via email at amkalal@ucsd.edu or by phone at 858-246-0629.

Many volunteers will be needed to make this day a great success. Look for future notices about Triton Day volunteer opportunities on the Volunteer 50 website (http://volunteer50.ucsd.edu/) to learn more about how you can participate.

We look forward to the participation of the entire campus community in Triton Day 2014!

In addition, Transfer Admit Day has been scheduled for Saturday, May 10. An additional notice will be sent with information on how to participate in this important event to showcase the UC San Diego to newly admitted transfer students and their families.
