SUBJECT: | Review of Brian Schottlaender as University Librarian |
We have been appointed as a committee to conduct a review, in accordance
with university policy, of Brian Schottlaender's performance as
University Librarian (UL). The official charge to the committee is to
evaluate the University Librarian's performance in the following areas:
* strengthening the quality of the University Libraries' collections
* long-range planning for services, staffing, automation, and physical
  facilities
* short and long-range planning for technology-enhanced instruction and
  the supporting infrastructure
* fostering development of new campuswide IT initiatives, including
  research cyberinfrastructure, data curation, and instructional
  technology
* fund-raising and acquisition of external resources
* management of personnel and financial resources, including
  reorganization and consolidation of Libraries at UC San Diego
* contributions to the larger campus community, including efforts to
  enhance the diversity of the campus, specifically academic, staff, and
  student diversity
* efforts to promote an environment in which the highest standards of
  ethical conduct are understood to be a primary responsibility of all
  members of the University Libraries
We welcome your comments on any aspect of UL Schottlaender's
performance. Please feel free to consult with others in your unit who
may have relevant information. You may share your comments by e-mailing
the review committee (ul-rev-2014-l@ucsd.edu) or by e-mailing or writing
to any of us directly. We would appreciate receiving your response by
Friday, February 14, 2014. The report of the ad hoc committee will not
identify individual respondents; respondents will remain confidential. UL Schottlaender will be provided a copy of the report.
