Importance of Voting

Voting is an important tool in our democratic society. When you cast your ballot, you ensure that your voice is heard and you help to shape the future of your community.

The city of San Diego will soon elect a new mayor and I encourage you to vote in the upcoming Feb. 11 Special Election. The deadline to register to vote is Jan. 27.

At UC San Diego, we strive to make voting convenient. We will have multiple polling locations on campus for the Special Election. To find a campus polling site, to register to vote in San Diego County and to learn more about the Feb. 11 election, visit as.ucsd.edu and click on “Recent Announcements.”

Civic engagement in local, national and world affairs is an integral part of being a Triton. I hope you’ll exercise your right to vote.
