Academic Senate’s New Website

Dear Colleagues,

I encourage you to visit the website, where you will find information about the Senate’s purpose, how it operates, its committees and who is serving on those committees, research and travel grants awarded by the Senate, and issues under review.

This fall, the following Academic Personnel Manual policies are under review.

* APM 133-17-g to j  Limitation on Total Period of Service with Certain
            Academic Titles

* APM 210-1-c & d  Review and Appraisal Committees

* APM 220-18-b  Professor Series

* APM 760-30-a  Family Accommodations for Childbearing and Childrearing

The Senate will be submitting a response to the proposed policy revisions to UC Vice Provost Susan Carlson, and you are welcome to submit a comment to help inform the San Diego Divisional Senate response. See “Issues Under Review” on the Senate’s home page to review the proposed changes and submit a comment.

I also encourage you to visit the website to update your Senate service preferences. The information that you provide is made available to the Senate’s Committee on Committees, which is charged with recruiting the Senate members who actively participate in shared governance by serving on Senate and administrative committees.
