Anyone can get the flu, and yearly vaccination is the single best way to protect against becoming ill with influenza and spreading it to others. Just because you’re healthy doesn’t mean you’re immune. The flu virus can make you very sick and complications to the illness can occur. Health experts now recommend that EVERYONE 6 months of age and older get vaccinated against influenza. Even healthy children and adults can get very sick from the flu, but certain people are at greater risk for serious complications if they get the flu, so are especially urged to get vaccinated. Higher risk people include: · People with certain chronic health conditions like asthma, diabetes, heart disease, neurological conditions, and immunodeficiency · Pregnant women · Healthcare workers and caretakers of children · People 65 years and older · Children younger than 5, but especially children younger than 2 years old FLU VACCINE CLINICS are scheduled on a walk-in basis at the following times: At Student Health Services: Upstairs Murray’s Place Conference Room October 8th: 8:30 a.m. - 3:45 p.m. October 15th: 8:30 a.m. - 3:45 p.m. October 21st: 9:30 a.m. - 3:45 p.m. October 22nd: 8:30 a.m. - 3:45 p.m. October 24th: 8:30 a.m. - 3:45 p.m. At The Zone (Located in Price Center near Jamba Juice) November 14th: 11:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. November 17th: 11:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Injectable and Intranasal Flu vaccine are FREE for students with SHIP insurance. If you waived SHIP or have RAFT, Injectable vaccine costs $15 and Intranasal vaccine costs $25.
