SUBJECT:    Funding Opportunities for Diversity Related Programs and Events

I am pleased to announce Funding Opportunities for Diversity-Related Programs and Events available through the Vice Chancellor for Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Office. Details on these funding opportunities are described below. For additional information and how to apply, visit http://diversity.ucsd.edu/sponsorships/index.html.

Innovation Grants:
The EDI Innovation grant is a mechanism designed to pilot innovative faculty-driven projects that advance the UC San Diego strategic plan diversity goals. This program favors proposals that have the potential to advance systemic changes at UC San Diego by exerting a sustained, powerful influence on fostering an inclusive and equitable climate for faculty, staff, and students. Co-sponsorship is required.

Co-sponsorship of Events and Programs:
EDI provides partial financial support for medium size (between 100 and 400 in attendance) events and programs that are designed to foster a more inclusive campus climate. Events and programs must be held on campus and advance the diversity goals of the UC San Diego strategic plan. Examples include annual campus conferences, annual cultural celebrations, hosting local diversity speakers, departmental or divisional lectures, trainings, symposia and cultural awareness programs.

Co-sponsorship of Special Events:
EDI provides partial financial support for large events (more than 500 in attendance) that are designed to foster a more inclusive campus climate. Events and programs must be held on campus and advance the diversity goals of the UC San Diego strategic plan. Examples are college expos, symposia, major cultural events, major conferences, or hosting major national speakers.

EDI Excellence Awards to New Faculty (Diversity Statement Initiative): The Diversity Statement Initiative is a mechanism to support new faculty innovators in the area of diversity, as well as to advance new diversity initiatives at UC San Diego. These awards are given to new faculty members who proposed promising and innovative ideas for programs, initiatives, or projects in their Contributions to Diversity statements during the recruitment process.
