ALL ACADEMICS AT UC SAN DIEGO
After two years of no change, the UC Postdoctoral Scholar Salary Scale will be adjusted effective March 1, 2014. The new annual minimum at step 0 is $42,000. For those preparing future budgets, the change represents about a 7% increase. Pursuant to the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the University of California and the UAW union that governs terms and conditions of employment for Postdoctoral Scholars at the University of California, the University's salary scale for Postdoctoral Scholar is increased in accordance with the February 10, 2014 NIH announcement pertaining to NRSA stipend levels. The new rates will apply when a UC Postdoctoral Scholar is newly appointed, reappointed, or on the anniversary date for those Postdoctoral Scholars with multiple year appointments. The MOU is found online at http://goo.gl/Neq2dF The implementation of the new scale does not automatically affect the salaries of Postdoctoral Scholars, with the exception of Kirschstein Fellows. For the Kirschstein Fellows who were granted FY2014 awards but issued using FY2012 stipend levels, their stipends will be adjusted to the FY2014 levels by NIH. Please consult your program officer for questions regarding the allocation. This new UC Scale is available on the Office of Postdoctoral and Visiting Scholar website http://postdoc.ucsd.edu/ or http://www.ucop.edu/academic-personnel/compensation/index.html under the Salary Scale Revision section.
