CAMPUS RESOURCE PLANNING INITIATIVES February 4, 2014 ALL ACADEMICS, STAFF, AND STUDENTS AT UC SAN DIEGO
The traffic signals recently installed on campus as part of the San Diego Association of Governments (SANDAG) SuperLoop project are in the final phase of improvements and the following work will start as early as Wednesday, February 5, 2014. * Library Walk crosswalk: six conveniently located pedestrian signals, with push-buttons to activate the WALK phase, will be installed to give pedestrians safe crossing intervals without vehicles. The flashing red signal will be converted to a traditional traffic signal. * Traffic signals: traffic signal heads will be replaced at the intersections of Gilman Drive and Myers Drive and Gilman Drive and Russell Drive. The new signal timing made possible by this change will shorten wait times for pedestrians and motorists. The work is expected to occur over several days. The traffic signals will be shut down for several hours while the signal heads are replaced. Flaggers will be present to provide traffic control during that time; minor delays should be expected. We appreciate your patience. For project inquiries and feedback, please contact Raeanon Hartigan, UC San Diego Senior Planner at x25199 or rhartigan@ucsd.edu.
