TIMELY WARNING UPDATE UC SAN DIEGO POLICE DEPARTMENT April 17, 2014
ALL ACADEMICS, STAFF AND STUDENTS AT UCSD
Please be on alert. On April 17th, 2014, the UC San Diego Police Department received information of a robbery and assault that occurred at Black's Beach, near the UC San Diego campus, at approximately 3:00 am. One of the victims was struck with a shovel. It was reported that the suspects were a group of about ten Hispanic and black males. One male was described as dark skinned (unknown race), wearing large diamond earrings in each ear. There are no further details at this time. Students, staff and faculty of UC San Diego are advised to avoid the Torrey Pines Glider Port and Black's Beach areas during the hours of darkness. If you have information about this incident, please contact California State Parks at (951) 443-2969. General Safety Information: " Be especially aware of your surroundings when you may be less alert and more vulnerable to an attack, e.g., during periods of stress, when you are upset or sick, or if you have been drinking. " Know the location of campus emergency telephones on routes to and from campus destinations. " Use the UCSD Safety Escort Program, (858) 534-WALK, available daily from dusk to dawn. " Report suspicious activity immediately to UCSD Police (858) 534-4357 or 9-1-1 (emergencies). |
