SUBJECT:   Construction Alert - La Jolla Medical Center Parking Lot P704 Partial Closure

Project Description/Location:

Construction of the Altman Clinical and Translational Research Institute project commenced on about Monday April 1, 2013. The project site is located on the La Jolla Campus north of the Sulpizio Cardiovascular Center and west of the recently constructed East Campus Parking Structure. This 345,000 square foot facility will provide new research space including dry and wet laboratories, human subject clinical space, auditorium, café, administrative support spaces and faculty physician offices for the Sulpizio Cardiovascular Center. The project will also utilize the recently installed utility infrastructure around the campus. Initial construction efforts will include building a temporary construction haul road behind the East Campus Parking Structure, project fencing, site grading, soil removal and underground utility work. Construction of the new structure is anticipated to be complete in the summer of 2015.

As part of the Altman Clinical Translational Research project, parking lot P704 will be partially closed for two weeks to accommodate construction activities. The work will begin May 5, 2014 and complete by May 23, 2014. Access to the area will be closed by Parking & Transportation Services at 7pm on May 2, 2014.

Immediate Street Impacts:

The southern half of Lot P704 will be closed for construction activities May 2, 2014 through May 23, 2014. Alternative parking is available in adjacent areas and parking lots. Pedestrians are requested to follow the signs and walk on existing sidewalks. Bicyclists are requested to follow signs and slowdown in construction areas.
