ALL ACADEMICS, STAFF AND STUDENTS AT UC SAN DIEGO

SUBJECT:    Fires in San Diego

At least two fires – the Del Norte Fire and the Bernardo Fire – are burning in San Diego’s North County, affecting many of our UC San Diego campus members and friends. Our thoughts and best wishes are with them through these difficult times.

We are closely monitoring the progression of the fires. The UC San Diego campus is not in immediate danger and remains open. Classes will continue as scheduled. The UC San Diego Health System hospitals and clinics also remain open.

As the high temperatures, low humidity and strong winds continue through the next few days, supervisors are urged to be flexible as employees need to evacuate their homes and ensure the safety of their family and pets.

For up-to-date information on the fires, evacuation centers and emergency response resources, visit the San Diego County Emergency website at http://sdcountyemergency.com.
