Opportunity to Meet Candidates for Vice Chancellor – Student Affairs

The members of the search committee for the Vice Chancellor - Student Affairs position have concluded their interviews and deliberations, and have advanced four candidates to the next round of consideration. The search now enters the public comment phase.

The campus will host a series of open forums, two for each candidate. Campus community members are invited to attend to hear the candidates discuss the skills and expertise they would bring to the position. There will also be an opportunity to ask questions.

The following are the dates of the open forums and the names of the four finalists:
• May 21: Juan Gonzalez, Program Head in Higher Education Leadership, University of Texas at Austin
• May 28: Sam Bersola, Assistant Vice Provost, University of California, Los Angeles
• May 30: Melissa Exum, Vice President for Student Affairs, Purdue University
• June 2: Jean Kim, Former Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs & Campus Life, University of Massachusetts, Amherst

We thank all of the members of the search committee, co-chaired by Associate Professor Frances Contreras, for their significant effort to complete the committee’s work on an accelerated timeline so the entire campus community can meet the finalists before the close of the spring quarter.
