Reappointment of Brian E. C. Schottlaender as the Audrey Geisel University Librarian

It is with great pleasure that we announce the reappointment of Brian E. C. Schottlaender as the Audrey Geisel University Librarian, following an extraordinarily successful five-year review.

The Library's prestige, visibility, and influence in the UC system, at the national level, and internationally have been greatly enhanced under UL Schottlaender's leadership. He is considered a leading professional librarian within the UC system and nationally, and is especially known for his expertise and activities in the areas of digital collections, data preservation and curation, and scholarly publication. During this last five-year term, University Librarian Schottlaender boldly led the Library in developing and executing a transformational strategic plan aimed at the long-term vision of a more focused, efficient, and nimble library. He cultivated a broad set of partners to collaborate with the Library and expand information technology offerings, and developed and implemented strategies to preserve, curate, and ensure long-term access to digital data and collections.

We are delighted that UC San Diego will continue to benefit from University Librarian Schottlaender's leadership.
