ALL ACADEMICS, STAFF AND STUDENTS AT UC SAN DIEGO
I invite you to join the UC San Diego community in supporting student scholarships by participating in the 19th annual Triton 5K and Festival on Saturday, June 6, at 9 a.m. Registration for this annual event, held during the seventh annual Alumni Weekend, June 4 through 7, is now open. Established in 1996 as the Chancellor’s Challenge 5K Run/Walk for Scholars, this long-standing campus tradition has raised more than $3.9 million, benefiting more than 1,000 ambitious students with scholarship support. The Triton 5K is sanctioned by USA Track and Field (USATF) and open to the UC San Diego campus community and the public. Participants may run or walk the new and improved 3.1 mile course that offers easier access and larger roadways through the heart of the UC San Diego campus. The course is also pet and stroller friendly. The race will feature entertainment, special discounts for active military and veterans, and an enhanced Junior Triton Run and play zone for children 12 and under. All participants who run or walk the course will receive a T-shirt and gear bag. You are encouraged to register as an individual or create a team of 5 or more. Children who participate in the Junior Triton Run will also receive a T-shirt and special goodie bag. Following the race, enjoy the Triton Family Festival featuring live music, fun zone and hands-on activities for Tritons of all ages. If you would like to host an interactive booth at the festival, please email triton5k@ucsd.edu. On behalf of the 2015 Triton 5K planning committee and tri-chairs Darcy Bingham, Reed Vickerman and Mark Stickel, I welcome you to join us. We look forward to seeing you on June 6 for the 19th annual Triton 5K and Festival. For registration, more information or if you would like to volunteer for the event, visit: http://5k.ucsd.edu. Please call (858) 534-3900 with requests for alternative accessibility arrangements or accommodations.
