SUBJECT:    Cost of Federal Regulatory Compliance Survey

Dear Colleagues:

Today, I invite you to participate in an opportunity for UC San Diego to have a voice in a conversation to examine federal regulations which impact our nation's higher education institutions.

Last year, a number of university and college presidents formed a Bipartisan Task Force on Government Regulation of Higher Education to identify federal regulations and reporting requirements that are burdensome to our nation’s higher education institutions. In relationship to this effort, UC San Diego is one of approximately ten institutions nationwide to take part in a project to examine and quantify the full scope and costs of all federal reporting and regulatory requirements. This presents a valuable opportunity for UC San Diego to examine how we invest our time and resources as we carry out our mission.

As part of this study, I ask that you complete a brief survey by visiting this webpage:
http://www8.intellisurvey.com/run/xuj0132269608_ucsd?pan=99 to help in the effort to calculate our true cost of compliance. The survey is anonymous and, depending on the level of compliance affecting you, requires only 2 minutes – 15 minutes to complete. Please complete the survey by April 17. Should you have any questions about the survey or need assistance, please feel free to email Marianne Generales at mgenerales@AD.UCSD.EDU.

Thank you for your participation in this very important project. The results will play a vital role in shaping conversations in our nation’s capital as we work to streamline and eliminate burdensome regulations that are detrimental to American universities and colleges and the people we serve.
