Appointment of Cheryl Ross as Assistant Vice Chancellor - Business & Financial Services (BFS)

Following a comprehensive nationwide search, we are delighted to announce the appointment of Cheryl Ross as Controller and Assistant Vice Chancellor, Business & Financial Services effective May 18, 2015. Ms. Ross will be a member of the Vice Chancellor & Chief Financial Officer's senior management team.

Ms. Ross has twenty years of progressive leadership and management experience with a proven record of success in improving and automating processes around financial reporting, payroll, sponsored projects finance, finance technology. She served as the Controller at Columbia University for eight years as well as the Vice President, Student Financial Services for three years. Her most recent position at Columbia University was Head of Special Projects, Global Financial Operations.

Ms. Ross also served as the Director of Internal Audit at Mayo Clinic for over five years and Chair of Foundation Accounting for nearly four years. In each of these roles she has created a collaborative team, with an emphasis on staff development, process and productivity improvement.

Ms. Ross is a Certified Public Accountant and received her Masters of Management from Purdue University. I look forward to welcoming Cheryl Ross to campus and working with her to provide leadership and expertise in maintaining effective business practices at UC San Diego.
