SUBJECT:    Director Search for the Center for Energy Research (CER)

A search is now underway for the position of Director of the Center for Energy Research, an Organized Research Unit at UC San Diego. The Director will report to the Vice Chancellor for Research.

Responsibilities of the Director include:

*Intellectual leadership and direction for the Center's research, educational, and campus-wide service activities

*Administrative and managerial oversight of the Center

*Promotion of the scholarly activities of the Center at UC San Diego

Qualifications include superior record of research and teaching, familiarity with UC San Diego energy research programs, some record of activity associated with CER, and demonstrated contributions to the larger campus community, including efforts to promote diversity, equal opportunity, inclusiveness, and the UC San Diego Principles of Community.

Eligibility is restricted to those individuals holding tenured faculty appointments at UC San Diego. It is anticipated that the initial appointment will be for a five-year term from July 1, 2015 to June 30, 2020.

The search committee consists of Stephen P. Mayfield. Chair (Biological Sciences), Kevin B. Quest (Electrical and Computer Engineering), and Frank K. Wuerthwein (Physics).
