FACILITIES DESIGN & CONSTRUCTION May 15, 2015
Project Description/Locations: As part of the Automatic Load Shed project, fiber optic cables will be replaced beneath the roadway between the Revelle College and East Campus Substations. Construction will take place from May 15 through May 22, 2015 between 6:00 am and 5:00 pm. Construction will begin at the intersection of Osler Lane and Gilman Drive, extend northeast through the intersection of Myers Drive and Gilman Drive, and will continue east onto Voigt Drive. Construction will include pulling fiber optic cables into the existing manhole and duct bank system. Immediate Street Traffic, Bicycle and Pedestrian Impacts: Faculty, staff and students may experience additional construction traffic on Gilman Drive, Osler Lane, and Voigt Drive. Signage and flagmen will be posted to allow circumnavigation of construction work. Temporary traffic control measures will be in place while lanes are narrowed at construction locations as utility connections are made. One lane will remain open in each direction at all times. Pedestrian pathways will be intermittently impacted and pedestrians will be directed to use adjacent walkways. Bicycle lanes will be impacted and cyclists will be directed to use the adjacent side of the street. Bicyclists should be aware of vehicular traffic.
