Announcing Associate Vice Chancellor, Health Sciences Advancement

Following a comprehensive nationwide search, we are pleased to announce the appointment of Ms. Jean Ford Keane as Associate Vice Chancellor, Health Sciences Advancement, effective August 17, 2015.

Ms. Keane joins UC San Diego Advancement following her ten-year tenure at Columbia University Medical Center, where she most recently served as Vice President for Development. As Vice President, she led the principal and major gift efforts within the Medical Center’s $1.75 billion campaign, raising more than $2 billion. Ms. Keane also contributed to the development of a Patient Facilitated Service Program aimed at providing philanthropic partners with enhanced patient care coordination, established a fundraising board for a cross-department transplantation initiative that raised more than $7 million in two years, and worked closely with the Chairs of Surgery and Cardiology to establish a fundraising board for the cardiovascular care and research programs.

Ms. Keane’s extensive leadership experience also includes service as Vice President for Development at The Mount Sinai Medical Center and at Hudson Guild, also in New York, in the role of Assistant Executive Director for Resource Development and Public Relations. In each of these positions, she played a key role in shaping fundraising strategy and policy, managing operations and staff, and working closely with governing boards and key constituents.

Ms. Keane received her Bachelor of Arts, Government and Politics, from Manhattan College in Riverdale, New York. We look forward to welcoming her to campus and to the extensive expertise, vision and leadership she will bring to this critical role.
