SUBJECT:    CONSTRUCTION ALERT – Mesa Support Building Renovation for

Childcare Phase 2 Project Description/Locations:

UC San Diego is committed to providing affordable, accessible, high quality childcare for their current and potential new staff, students, and faculty. Construction to improve the Mesa Early Childhood Education Development Center Phase 2 (Buildings B & C) will begin August 10, 2015 and will be completed approximately mid-April 2016. This project consists of site improvements and the renovation of two existing vacant buildings adjacent to the existing facility which will increase the current child care capacity and reduce waiting periods for attendance.

Immediate Street Traffic, Bike Lane, and Pedestrian Impacts:

· Faculty, staff and students may experience additional construction traffic on Miramar Street at the entry to the Early Childhood Education Development Center with traffic redirected from Regents Road. Signage and flagmen will be posted to allow circumnavigation of construction traffic as necessary. Motorists are urged to slow down and all travelers are encouraged to allow additional time and anticipate possible traffic delays.

· Pedestrian pathways will be impacted and pedestrians may be directed to adjacent walkways as shown on the map during some phases of construction.

· Bicycle traffic in immediate construction area will be impacted and bicyclists may be directed to the adjacent side of the road as shown on the map during some phases of construction.

· Site preparation and demolition including construction-related noise, dust, and equipment around the site.
