SUBJECT:    CONSTRUCTION ALERT – East Campus Graduate and Professional Student Housing Project

Project Description/Locations:

UC San Diego is committed to providing affordable, accessible housing for current and potential new staff, students and faculty. Construction of the Graduate and Professional Student Housing Project will begin September 21, 2015. This project consists of site improvements, demolition of existing buildings, the construction of five new housing structures and a parking structure. Normal hours of construction are 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. The completion of the project is anticipated for the fall of 2017.

Immediate Street Traffic, Bike Lane, Bus Stop and Pedestrian Impacts:

Miramar Street will be closed during the construction hours Monday through Friday between 7:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. After 3:30 p.m. the gates will be open and cars will be allowed to travel both east and west on Miramar Street.

The construction area will be fenced until the completion of the project with no available access to the public including all walkways and all parking spaces.

Pedestrians and bicyclists should use alternate routes around the construction area as indicated on the map.

During construction, motorists are urged to slow down and all travelers are encouraged to give themselves more time and anticipate possible traffic delays.
