ACADEMIC SENATE: SAN DIEGO DIVISION

January 25, 2016

MEMBERS OF THE REPRESENTATIVE ASSEMBLY
MEMBERS OF THE ACADEMIC SENATE, SAN DIEGO DIVISION

SUBJECT:    February 2016 Representative Assembly Meeting & Town Hall on Retirement

Dear Colleagues:

The February 2nd Representative Assembly meeting will be a town hall devoted to the Retirement Options Task Force Report to the President.

As part of the 2015-2016 budget agreement between UC, the Governor, and the Legislature, the State of California will provide $436 million to UC for the UC Retirement Plan over the next three years. In return for this funding commitment, UC must implement a new pension tier for employees hired on or after July 1, 2016, to match the limits on covered compensation imposed on State retirement plans under the Public Employees Pension Reform Act, enacted in 2013. President Napolitano appointed a task force to develop options, and the Retirement Options Task Force has released its report.

The meeting will be held on Tuesday, February 2nd at 3:30 p.m., in the Garren Auditorium of the Biomedical Sciences Building (first floor). The Notice of Meeting (agenda) and all pertinent documents may be found at the following two locations:

(1) On the Senate’s homepage under Assembly/Council Meetings, on the lower right side of the page. http://senate.ucsd.edu

(2) On the Representative Assembly-Schedule page.

All Senate members are invited to attend.

If you are a Representative Assembly member and cannot attend next week’s meeting, please be sure to notify your alternate to do so in your stead. Your participation matters. I look forward to seeing you on February 2nd.

Sincerely yours,

Robert Continetti
