SUBJECT:    Merit-Based Pay Program for Non-represented Staff

As you know, all University of California (UC) campus locations are moving to a merit-based performance management program for policy-covered/non-represented staff. The program is designed to recognize the contributions of outstanding performance and differentiate pay based on employee accomplishments.

UC San Diego will implement the program for the current 2015-16 performance review cycle. Please note that the implementation of the program will shorten the appraisal cycle which will end on April 30, 2016. Going forward, the new performance appraisal period will be from May 1 through April 30.

To assist with the transition, the Human Resources Department has provided guidelines including key dates for the 2015-16 performance review cycle, and training opportunities for managers and supervisors. These resources can be accessed at the following link: http://blink.ucsd.edu/sponsor/hr/initiatives/merit-plan.html. Additional information covering the merit-based pay for performance implementation is provided in the Frequently Asked Questions at: http://blink.ucsd.edu/sponsor/hr/initiatives/merit-faq.html

Questions regarding the performance review cycle change or the performance appraisal process should be directed to the Human Resources Department, division of Employee Relations, Policy Development and Work/Life at (858) 534-4115 or via e-mail at employeerelations@ucsd.edu
