SUBJECT:   CONSTRUCTION ALERT – Gilman Drive/Scholars Drive South
Intersection Modification

Project Description/Locations:

The Gilman Drive and Scholars Drive South/Osler Lane intersection project includes removing a portion of the existing median in Gilman Drive, south of the intersection, to construct a dedicated turn lane onto Scholars Drive South. The project also includes modifying the existing traffic signals and striping for the entire Gilman Drive and Scholars Drive South/Osler Lane intersection to accommodate the new turn lane and bike lane striping.

The project will begin on November 3, 2016 and will be completed by February 1, 2017. The primary hours of work are from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday; earlier start times, later ending times and some weekend work may occur.

Immediate Street Traffic, Bike Lane and Pedestrian Impacts:

Traffic control measures, including flaggers as needed, will be in place for locations where the work will be performed in a street, but no total closure of any street will occur, and at least one lane will remain open in each direction at all times. Bike lanes could be temporarily impacted by traffic control for the work within a street. The duration for such an impact will be brief — typically one to two days. Pedestrians may be directed to adjacent walkways if work requires such a routing change. Areas impacted by the work will not be simultaneous and each location will be interrupted for a short duration of one to two days.
