National, State and Local Election

Election Day is Tuesday, November 8, 2016. I want to encourage you to exercise your right to vote as citizens of California.

In accordance with UC Personnel Policy 2-210, a non-exempt employee shall be granted a maximum of two (2) hours of paid leave at the beginning or end of a workday to vote in a statewide primary or general election if the employee works at least eight (8) hours that day and does not have time to vote outside working hours. Any additional time off shall be without pay.

Please notify your supervisor in advance if you need to take time off during work hours to vote.

In addition to election to the office of President and Vice President of the United States, a number of important state and local issues are on the November ballot. I encourage you to read the voter information pamphlets so that you may make an informed decision.
