SUBJECT:    Postdoctoral Scholar Dependent Care Professional Travel Grant Program

I am pleased to announce the call for applications for the Postdoctoral Scholar Dependent Care Professional Travel Grant Program. This one-year pilot program is designed to promote postdoctoral career success by subsidizing childcare/dependent care costs associated with travel for scholarly work, such as professional conference or research meeting.

The program will have three award periods. Applications for the first period will be accepted June 1-22, 2016 for travel between July 1, 2016 - October 31, 2016.

Detailed information and application is available at
http://pos tdoc.ucsd.edu/award-opportunities/index.html

This program is generously supported by the Vice Chancellor-Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Innovation Grant lead by the PI Alexandra Bortnick, Ph.D., former chair of the Postdoctoral Association; Postdoctoral Association; and Office of Postdoctoral and Visiting Scholar Affairs. The program will be administered through the Office of Postdoctoral and Visiting Scholar Affairs.

Balancing family and career is challenging for young researchers. We hope this grant program will remove one of the barriers to professional development travel for those postdoctoral scholars with child- and adult-dependent care responsibilities.

If you have any questions, contact Ginger Hazen in the Office of Postdoctoral and Visiting Scholar Affairs at (858) 822-5915 or via email at vhazen@ucsd.edu.
