FACILITIES DESIGN & CONSTRUCTION May 24, 2016
ALL ACADEMICS, STAFF AND STUDENTS AT UCSD
Project Description/Location: The Reclaimed Water Pipeline Extension Project, Phase 2, will install approximately 9,000 feet of reclaimed water main pipeline. The installation of the Phase 2 pipeline will provide improved capacity and stability to the reclaimed water system on West Campus. Reclaimed water supplies are used at the Central Utility Plant cooling towers, resulting in a potable water savings of 300,000 gallons per day. The additional pipeline will also allow the use of reclaimed water for irrigation use. The pipe will be installed primarily by open trenching along with two sections of horizontal directional underground drilling. There will be trucks and heavy construction equipment, fencing and traffic control in localized areas where drilling, trenching and pipe installation are occurring. Immediate Street Impacts: On or about May 30, 2016, construction activities will begin in the Pepper Canyon area of the project. Generally, construction will occur from the northern end of the project to the south. The locations affected by this work are outlined on the area map. Impacts will include lane and sidewalk closures. Please be aware of and obey signage and flagman directions.
