ALL ACADEMICS AT UC SAN DIEGO
UC San Diego faculty members will report on research transformed by Digital Research Platforms in a showcase event on May 19 from 3:00-5:00PM in Atkinson Hall Auditorium, and the campus community is invited to attend. These Platforms, supported by the Integrated Digital Infrastructure (IDI) program's funding and staff, created new persistent digital infrastructure to support multiple UC San Diego researchers. In addition to these exciting short talks, you can visit poster presentations from campus groups that provide IT services to research, from SDSC to Digital Humanities to Research Data Curation. The Showcase will also preview the newly created Research IT Services' plans for 2016/17, and formally pass the baton from the IDI program to IT Services. Among its many responses to the challenges of the next century, the Campus Strategic Plan includes applying advanced information-technology services to support the wide variety of disciplines that increasingly depend on digital data. The IDI was conceived two years ago to demonstrate a campus-wide approach to this vision, coordinating with the Library, SDSC, Qualcomm Institute, ACT and ACMS (now ITS), and IT professionals in the schools to develop leading-edge integrated solutions that meet the needs of faculty, staff, and students. Please join us to learn about IDI's achievements (including how you can access them for your own research) and the ongoing work of Research IT Services.
