FACILITIES DESIGN & CONSTRUCTION June 28, 2016
ALL ACADEMICS, STAFF AND STUDENTS AT UCSD
Project Description/Location: The Revelle Switch Station project will be installing underground electrical conduits on the north end of Gilman Drive beginning July 5, 2016 with an anticipated completion date of July 20, 2016. The areas affected by the construction work on Gilman Drive begin at the intersection of Voigt Drive and Gilman Drive extending to the south end of the Sixth College Apartments. The normal hours of construction will be between 6:30 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. Immediate Street Traffic, Bicycle Lane and Pedestrian Impacts: Faculty, Staff and Students may experience additional construction traffic on Gilman Drive between the Sixth College Apartments and Voigt Drive. Signage and flag person(s) will be posted to allow traffic to move around the construction work. Temporary traffic control measures will be in place while lanes are narrowed at construction locations as utility connections are made. One traffic lane will remain open with traffic control flag person(s) controlling traffic flow at all times. Pedestrian pathways will be impacted and pedestrians may be directed to adjacent walkways during some phases of construction. Bike lanes will be closed throughout the duration of construction. Flag person(s) and/or signage will be posted at several sections within the closure area of Gilman Drive to direct one way traffic for both southbound and northbound lanes.
