SUBJECT:   CONSTRUCTION ALERT – Gilman Drive Realignment Project: Temporary Closure of Gilman Drive

Project Location/Description:

Construction of the Gilman Drive Realignment will be completed in early 2017. The UC San Diego project will realign Gilman Drive to facilitate connection to the future Gilman Bridge Project, which is being built by San Diego Association of Governments (SANDAG). The new road design reconfigures and widens Gilman Drive between Villa La Jolla Drive and Voigt Drive, provides a new four-way signalized intersection to improve campus circulation, and will allow for the connection to the future Gilman Bridge. In order to improve health and safety and save time on the overall project duration, and minimize night work impacts during the fall semester, Gilman Drive will be closed between Parking Lot P401 and Villa La Jolla Drive.

Immediate Parking Lot, Street Traffic, and Pedestrian Impacts:

Gilman Drive will be closed for public access between Parking Lot P401 and Villa La Jolla Drive beginning August 29th, 2016 through September 6th, 2016. Emergency vehicle access will remain available at all times. VA emergency access will be rerouted to Villa La Jolla Drive. Traffic control and detour signage will be provided in order to direct UCSD service vehicles and pedestrians through Russel Lane, Lyman Lane, and Voigt Drive. Public vehicles will be directed around North Torrey Pines Road or Voigt Drive. Please reference the map linked below for vehicular detour routes.
