SUBJECT:    CONSTRUCTION ALERT – Osler Lane and Pharmacy Lane Street Traffic, Bike Lane, and Pedestrian Access Impact

Project Description/Location:

The new Satellite Utility Plant, located in existing parking lot P604 next to the Central Research Services Facility, will provide approximately 7,000 new gross square feet to house emergency power generators and switchgear. The facility will provide emergency power to the Pharmaceutical Sciences Building, Biomedical Research Facility II, and Central Research Services Facility after completion to ensure more reliable power service to these facilities in School of Medicine.

Revelle Switch Station Upgrade, currently under construction in Revelle College, will provide critical electrical infrastructure to reliably service the existing and proposed electrical loads for the campus.

Safety of building occupants and others adjacent to the areas of work is and will remain of utmost importance in the execution of this work.

The work will occur on Osler Lane and Pharmacy Lane. The Revelle Switch Station project will be pulling medium voltage cables between manholes on Osler Lane. The Satellite Utility Plant will conduct underground conduits investigation on Osler Lane and on Pharmacy Lane.

Work will begin on January 31, 2017 and is scheduled to be completed by February 15, 2017. The hours of work will be from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM and will intermittently impact street traffic, bike lane, and the pedestrian path on Osler Lane and Pharmacy Lane.

Immediate Street Traffic, Bike Lane, and Pedestrian Impacts:

Traffic delays on Osler Lane and Pharmacy Lane will occur due to the intermittent closure of the streets. Traffic will be controlled by flag persons when the lane is closed. The bicycle lanes and pedestrian sidewalks will also be impacted by this intermittent closure. Please follow signage and allow extra time while traveling on Osler Lane and Pharmacy Lane. Fire truck access will be maintained at all times.
