ALL ACADEMICS, STAFF AND STUDENTS AT UC SAN DIEGO (Including UC San Diego Health System)

SUBJECT:    Federal and California Earned Income Tax Credit

In accordance with California Assembly Bill 1847, Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) Information Act, the university must notify all employees that they may be eligible for the federal and/or California Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC). The federal and California EITC are refundable income tax credits for low-income working individuals and families.

Even if you do not owe federal or California taxes, you must file your federal tax return and federal EITC form and your California tax return and California EITC form (FTB 3514) to claim each EITC.

Additionally, the University includes notice with all W-2 statements notifying employees that they may be eligible for the federal EITC.

For more information about the federal and state EITC, go to http://go.ucsd.edu/2ktuBEN
